The 6” Bumblebee is a slightly modernized version of the character, seemingly better suited to a good dust-up than the function of espionage. Equipped with a silver pistol, Bumblebee’s depiction steers away from the more benign look and incorporates a sterner, more businesslike expression. This version of Bumblebee looks ready to shove his pistol into the exhaust pipe of the first available Decepticon---and then pull the trigger seven or eight times.
Initially, Bumblebee was youngster of the group, bonding closely with Spike. In Transformers: The Movie, Bumblebee and the adult Spike were manning Moonbase 2 when Unicron attacked. Bumblebee and Spike rigged a self-destruct sequence, jumped into a shuttle and abandoned base. Unfortunately, Unicron ate the self-destruct function like a fried banana sandwich and used his gravitational field to draw Bumblebee and Spike back into his vortex maw. Luckily, however, Bumblebee and Spike, still intact, were among those that were rescued just before the conveyer line dropped them into Unicron’s digestive foundry.
