These sets each include an individually boxed 4” figure along with a 20 page magazine with an illustrated history of the respective character. The Sandman is depicted in his hybrid mode, a human shape merging with a spiraling column of sand. Armed with a hammer-shaped appendage the size of a cinderblock, the Sandman is positioned atop a base stamped with the Marvel insignia.
The result of an atomic mutation, the Sandman makes an especially effective opponent. He not only served in the Sinister Six, but in the Frightful Four as well. Even aside from his base malleability, which can vary between flowing sand and rock consistency, his shapeshifting abilities give him an endless arsenal of built-in weapons. Additionally, his powers manifest in the form of augmented resiliency and superhuman strength. He does have weaknesses, however---in one instance, his angry rivalry with Hydro Man led to a confrontation in which the two villains, Sandman and Hydro Man, were reconstituted into a gigantic mindless mud golem.
