Kraven’s costume---lion’s mane, leopard spots, zebra stripes, elephant tusks---is an amalgam of various big game trophies. Armed with a leaf-bladed spear and hell-bent upon finally winning that coveted Spider-Man throw rug, Kraven the Hunter is positioned atop a base stamped with the Marvel insignia.
Kraven the Hunter, believing himself to be superior to all prey, fixated on the task of hunting and snaring Spider-Man. His continual failures in this endeavor compromised his all-consuming pride, pushing him towards madness. Eventually his obsession led him to the storyline of “Kraven’s Last Hunt”, in which the vaguely clownish character of Kraven crystallized into a darker and more earnest one. Kraven ultimately failed to regain his sanity but once he had, to his satisfaction, regained his honor, he calmly committed suicide.
