Stark Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan, the jewel in the Star Trek theatrical crown. This is Admiral Kirk as he appeared at the outset of the Wrath of Khan, clad in the more pristine version of his uniform and reasonably gloomy over his impending birthday. To make matters worse, Kirk is lured by a distress beacon from his old girlfriend Carol Marcus to Space Station Regula 1, the latter being one of two sites built in support of the revered and grandiose Project Genesis.
What Kirk doesn’t realize is that Captain Terrell and Chekov of the Reliant have fallen under the control of Kirk’s old adversary, the vengeful Khan Noonien Singh. Khan and his followers have expeditiously commandeered the Reliant and have poised themselves to ambush the Enterprise once it reaches Regula. Kirk trustingly ventures within range, and the Enterprise is pummeled and nearly torn apart by the Reliant’s guns. Afterwards, escaping only by a hairsbreadth, Kirk understandably looks just a little more rumpled and disorganized.
