Stark Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan, the jewel in the Star Trek theatrical crown. This exclusive ‘Double Cross’ version of Kirk is as he appeared in the aftermath of Khan’s first vengeful assault. The Enterprise has taken massive damage and lives have been lost; Kirk has joined in the attempt to salvage the wounded members of the crew. Kirk is more ragged and spattered with some blood, now invested with a lust vengeance nearly equal to Khan’s own.
Kirk is too late ordering the raising of the Enterprise’s shields. The Reliant, shielded, opens fire on the Enterprise. Khan finally reveals his presence to Kirk, demanding the Enterprise’s surrender. Once Kirk recovers from his momentary shock, Spock deftly reminds Kirk that, though Khan is extremely intelligent, he suffers from a one-track mind and a lack of experience. Stalling Khan, Kirk uses the Enterprise’s computers to acquire the Reliant’s prefix code, allowing Kirk to order the Reliant to lower her shields. To his credit, Khan actually realizes what is happening, but just a minute too late. The Enterprise throws everything she has at the Reliant, damaging the latter vessel enough to facilitate a desperate escape.
