This more modernized version of the character is wearing the midriff-exposing costume specific to the covers of Mystique comic series. The blue-skinned and curvaceous Mystique is posed sensuously, with a pistol grasped overhead.
Mystique is a shapeshifter with a perpetual appearance of youthfulness. For a while she led the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, during which she practiced an agenda generally more political than criminal; in regards to the X-Men, her allegiance has seemingly varied. Eventually Mystique’s powers were mutated and intensified, fitting her with an altered base appearance and an assortment of superhuman abilities.
