These sets each include the respective individually boxed figure, measuring around 4” tall, as well as a 20 page magazine with an illustrated history of the character. This is a slightly modernized version of the Thing, a seemingly movie-influenced version with a less concrete musculature, his belt-fixed “4” emblem worn slightly askew, mounted to a black base imprinted with the Marvel insignia.
The Thing is the result of cosmic rays---a bombardment transforming him completely, heightening his strength and durability, sheathing his body in a tough orange hide that eventually crystallized into a kind of organic rock substance. Over the years the mutation would evolve, while the Thing tempered his superhuman strength with honed fighting skills. Though he mourned the loss of his outward humanity, the Thing nobly signed on with the rest of the Fantastic Four to defend the world against screwballs like the Wizard or the Trapster, master villains like Doctor Doom, and cataclysmic alien threats like Galactus.
