The Cloak and Dagger figures are designed to be displayed in a comic-style tableau or as stand-alone figures. Dagger appears to be reasonably well articulated. Slender and delicate, she’s completely white-clad, characterized by the ring around her right eye and her dagger-shaped cleavage. Cloak is much less linear, spectral and noncorporeal, the precise level of articulation unclear. He’s best characterized by the blank white eyes and the melancholy interior darkness.
In terms of origin, they were both runaways, used as guinea pigs by the Kingpin’s thugs and forcefully given the drugs that ultimately transformed them. Cloak’s body was living darkness, eventually solidified as a conduit to the Darkforce Dimension. He had the ability to draw others inside the void of his cloak, and after being lost in limitless space the victims returned immobilized by shock and horror. But the emptiness of the dark void became a source of pain and madness for Cloak, which necessitated his partner Dagger. Dagger, in lyrical contrast, was a beacon of living light, an element that could be employed either as an offensive tactic, a purifying force, or as a temporary remedy to ease Cloak’s suffering. Complimenting her partner perfectly, she experienced surrogate suffering as Cloak battled with his own soul-devouring darkness.
