The statues portray these characters just as they originally appeared: Spider-Man is presented with his early “web wing” costume, and Daredevil is in his yellow-and-red uniform, for instance. This new line will be deliberately different than the common modern Marvel collectible sculpture, with features like a rougher surface texture, visible seam lines, and other slightly “distressed” aspects, such as the method of paint application.
Each limited-edition, hand-numbered statuette comes carefully packaged in a custom-tooled, full-color, litho-printed tin box, in a style similar to past releases in the Dark Horse Syroco line. Also included is a small booklet about each character and a vintage-style pin-back button of the character.
Victor von Doom creates a device intended to communicate with the dead, however he ignores the warning of fellow Empire State University student Reed Richards, who points out a flaw in the device, and is disfigured when the machine self-destructs. Becoming Doctor Doom, he blames Richards for the accident, and, by association, the Fantastic Four. Doctor Doom’s extensive scientific genius enables him to construct myriad devices designed to aggrandize his own power and exploit the vulnerabilities of his enemies. He frequently uses his Doombots, indistinguishable duplicates of himself, as surrogates. His computer-powered armor heightens his strength and durability, defends him against energy-based attacks, and provides him with life support measures enabling long-term survival in underwater or outer space environments.
