Based upon the artwork of Jack Kirby, the New Gods figures feature multiple points of articulations and display bases. New Gods Action Figures Wave 02: Set of 4 includes the following figures:
Metron (6.75” tall): Metron is clad in a dark blue uniform with an elaborate light blue, white and red chest design. Characteristically portrayed as the aloof pilot of his time/space-defying Mobius Chair, Metron is an impassive, ambiguous entity intent upon the acquisition of even the most obscure knowledge. In the process of scouring the universe for knowledge, Metron ventures between New Genesis and Apokolips, although he belongs to neither world.
Superman (6.75” tall): Superman is clad in his classic red and blue uniform. Superman was drawn into the Fourth World struggle as an opponent of Darkseid, striving to stop the latter’s invasion of Earth. Superman is one of the few characters character capable of weathering a direct attack from Darkseid. Finding a nemesis in Superman, Darkseid retaliated more obliquely, striking at Superman via surrogates such as the Intergang, in a relentless attempt to acquire the Anti-Life Equation.
Big Barda (7” tall): Big Barda is sheathed in stylized headdress, halter and kilt, contour-hugging blue mail, and a billowing red cloak. She’s equipped with the Mega-Rod accessory. Big Barda managed to defect from the Female Furies and from Apokolips. She traveled alongside Mister Miracle, becoming Mister Miracle’s wife and somewhat embracing his sense of fairer play. Towering over her husband and most other superheroes, Big Barda possesses heightened strength and durability. After leaving Darkside and Granny Goodness, she eventually became a warrior agent of New Genesis.
Kalibak: (7” tall): Identified by his feral, almost simian cast, Kalibak the Cruel is clad in a dark green tunic and a lighter green cape. This version of Kalibak is much less bestial than later incarnations. He’s equipped with the pain-inducing Beta-Club accessory. A savage warrior, Kalibak is imbued with monstrously heightened strength and damage resistance. Unfortunately, Kalibak is also a dillweed. His continual, desperate efforts to defeat Orion or to earn general favor in the eyes of his disapproving father Darkseid generally represent some of Kalibak’s more humiliating moments.
