DC Direct brings the JLA Trophy Room to the public in 3-D for the first time ever, with a brand new prop replica program for 2008! The JLA Trophy Room is the heart of the Justice League of America headquarters. This mini-museum holds memorabilia from past members, as well as villainous weapons from various cases. For the first time, DC Direct brings together the different forms of deadly Kryptonite. Displayed in a special protective case are the four primary forms: Red, Gold, Blue and Green Kryptonite. Each "meteorite" lights up and is permanently housed in the unique glass-domed JLA Trophy Room Display. Packaged in an upscale box, the prop replica measures 7.25" h x 10.75"w x 9.5" d and includes a 4-Color Certificate of Authenticity as well as the brochure "Guide to the Trophy Room" written by best-selling author and JLA scribe Brad Meltzer.
Red Kryptonite: This type typically causes a chaotic range of bizarre side effects. Each fragment of Red Kryptonite generates a different effect, although the effect usually lasts no longer than two or three days, and the infected party is then immune to that particular effect. Under the influence of Red Kryptonite, Superman has experienced effects such as temporary insanity, amnesia, debilitating clumsiness, and has even transformed into a dragon.
Gold Kryptonite: This type permanently eradicates Kryptonian super powers. This effect is hemlock to Superman, although it works extremely well against renegade Kryptonians or evil Superman clones. Lex Luthor advanced the theory that Gold Kryptonite inhibits Superman’s ability to process solar energy.
Blue Kryptonite: This type is a duplicated version of Green Kryptonite. Initially Blue Kryptonite affected Bizarro-based beings in the same way that Green Kryptonite affected super-powered Kryptonians. Later versions of Blue Kryptonite provided Bizarro with improved mental functions and a more innocuous demeanor.
Green Kryptonite: This is the common type of Kryptonite. Direct exposure diminishes Superman’s powers and causes pain and sickness. Prolonged exposure would kill Superman in the space of only a few hours. Humans and non-powered Kryptonians suffer no ill effects from Kryptonite in the short-term, but long-term exposure will cause radiation poisoning.
