Count Dracula departs from his castle in the Carpathian Mountains under the pretense of leasing the site of Carfax Abbey in London. During the voyage to England Dracula gradually preys upon the crew of the Vesta. He is later introduced to Dr. Seward, along with the doctor’s daughter, Mina, and Mina’s friend, Lucy. Converting Lucy into one of his vampire-brides, Dracula ultimately bites Mina, prompting Seward and Mina’s fiancée, John Harker, to enlist the aid of Professor Van Helsing.
