Set in 1:3 scale, the Indiana Jones Cinemaquette features a pretty accurate character likeness and what appears to be a full array of fabric and simulated leather clothes and gear---the fedora, the leather bomber-style jacket, the modified gas mask bag; presumably a variation of the trademark revolver resides inside the belt-slung holster. The Cinemaquette is poised atop a base designed to resemble a vine-laden temple floor, the latter stamped with a ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ nameplate. Jones is brandishing his bullwhip in a style reminiscent of the opening sequence of Raiders of the Lost Ark.
During the opening sequence of Raiders of the Lost Ark, India Jones is introduced in the process of circumventing a gauntlet of booby traps in order to secure a golden idol. Jones is next ambushed by tribesmen and relieved of the golden idol by Jones’ unscrupulous rival, Belloq. Later, Jones is recruited by Army personnel for a mission that ultimately involves preventing a ring of Nazi operatives from obtaining the Ark of the Covenant and delivering the Ark’s occult power into the hands of Hitler. Belloq, a perpetual bottom-feeder, is subsequently employed by the Nazis. Jones manages to extract the Ark only to have it abruptly commandeered by Belloq and the Nazis. Eventually, however, during the arcane ceremony in which Belloq opens the Ark, a host of ghastly wraiths is unleashed from the vessel and the bad guys, driven to insanity, are destroyed in a manner involving melting faces and explosions.
