The Thing metal statue is set in 1:12 scale. Crouched atop a roughhewn base, the Thing is depicted in mid-throw of a ground-shattering punch. This is a more contemporary version of the Thing, his bright orange rock exterior shaped by a more prominent musculature. This is also the version foregoing the nostalgic wrestler’s trunks for these new blue two-toned knickerbockers thing that he’s wearing these days.
The Thing is the result of cosmic rays---a bombardment transforming him completely, heightening his strength and durability, sheathing his body in a tough orange hide that eventually crystallized into a kind of organic rock substance. Over the years the mutation would evolve and alter, during which time the Thing tempered his superhuman strength with honed fighting skills. A naturally likeable and sympathetic character, the Thing is kind, level-headed, streetwise, and much less militant than his fellow superheroes. In short, the Thing is bad when he has to be bad.
