This version of Optimus Prime corresponds with his pre-Earth Cybetronian mode, similar to that shown in The War Within series. The series begins after the destruction of Sentinel Prime. The archivist Optronix, destined to become the greatest Autobot leader ever known, begins as an obscure, detached and almost apathetic character. No one is more surprised than Optronix himself when he is chosen to become the new Prime and host to the Matrix which he believed to be mythic.
Primary colors are blue, red, white/silver. At a glance the figure seems to be well-articulated, pieced together with both die-cast and plastic. In robot mode he’s sleek and barrel-chested, armed with his massive blaster rifle. In six-wheeled vehicle mode, the rifle is vehicle-mounted. The vehicle itself more resembles a more armored and durable version of the Gen 1 Kup vehicle mode.
Initially, Prime doubts his own destiny, and some of the Autobots, Grimlock chief among them, refuse to acknowledge him as leader. Prime’s first bout with Megatron is a terrible failure, but as he begins to divine the secrets of the Matrix, and as he embraces his ultimate responsibility, he reengages Megatron and nearly destroys him.
