The Protoform Optimus Prime Sneak Preview Figure looks really, really weird. Primarily silver and slate grey, the Protoform design doesn’t have much in common with the classic Optimus. With the lanky stature, the segmented chassis and the simian feet, the Prime Protoform is abstractly reminiscent of the Hector robot from Saturn 3. The figure appears to be extremely well articulated, armed with a thrust-fire gun that apparently reconfigures into the fiery tail of the figure’s four-wheeled bubble-truck altmode.
Presumably the movie Prime will exhibit some or all of the traits that made the classic Optimus Prime the coolest hero ever to exist. Reportedly, the movie storyline describes a joint rulership of Cybertron by both Prime and Megatron, the former playing a more diplomatic role and the latter a military one. A division in ranks occurs when Megatron attempts to monopolize the power of the Allspark.
