The Qui-Gon & Obi-Wan Vs. Darth Maul Diorama is polystone-cast in approximate 1:9 scale and is over 14” tall. This diorama recreates the vicious battle waged in the palace hangar, as Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan defend Queen Amidala against Darth Maul. His twin red lightsabers conjoined, Maul’s honed savagery is best demonstrated by the relative ease with which he engages the two Jedi warriors. As the fight inevitably migrates, a series of laser fields play an interactive role, interrupting and measuring the battle in anticipatory intervals, spawning periods of inactivity in which Qui-Gon calmly meditates while Darth Maul prowls restlessly with his contemptuous gaze fixed on his adversary. Ultimately, Darth Maul overwhelms Qui-Gon, killing him while a horrified Obi-Wan looks on. Obi-Wan is initially driven by rage and vengeance, but when he finally realizes that he’s incapable of surpassing Darth Maul at his own game, he resigns himself to a more oblique offensive, and manages to shear Darth Maul in half.
Darth Maul, but the Sith eventually manages to gain the offensive. Qui-Gon is unable to adequately counter-attack, and Darth Maul plunges his lightsaber through the stunned Jedi. When the laser field between them drops, Obi-Wan attacks using all his Jedi skills to defeat the monstrous Sith Lord. After a valiant struggle, Obi-Wan flips over his opponent and delivers a lightning fast strike that cuts Darth Maul in half. Obi-Wan Kenobi runs to his dying master who makes Obi-Wan promise to train young Anakin Skywalker in the ways of the force...a promise that will forever change the destiny of the Universe.
