This version is the updated version of Bumblebee, initiated after Mikaela commented derisively about Bumblebee’s previous 1974 Camaro mode. The upgrade allows for a reconfigured robot mode armed with a kind of bladed weapon. This Bumblebee looks to be as well articulated as the ’74 version. Like the majority of his cohorts, this version of Bumblebee is more overtly mechanical-looking than the smiling, kid-faced Gen 1 version of Bumblebee. A reconnaissance agent, Bumblebee is charged with the task of remaining concealed as he scouts the Allspark. Like the original Bumblebee, he’s cited as one of Optimus Prime’s bravest, most determined, and most trusted troops. In the movie, Bumblebee developed a protective attachment to Sam and Mikaela. A previous dust-up with Megatron left Bumblebee unable to speak, and for the majority of the movie he communicated via songs on the radio.
