In the Gen 1 Japanese continuity, there was recurrent theme in which both Autobots and Decepticons were annihilated only to return as augmented revamps or different characters altogether. They were violent times. Crime was on the rise. The Quintessons were running bootleg energon. Most Autobots didn’t feel safe leaving their stasis chambers unlocked at night. During the Headmaster series, both Soundwave and Blaster engaged in a battle that destroyed them both. Soundwave returned as Soundblaster, a darker repaint of Soundwave, while Blaster returned as Twincast, another repaint.
Both Soundblaster and Twincast, as well as their weapon accessories, were pretty much identical to their former incarnations, with the exception of their tape decks, which were both deepened to hold to hold two cassettes apiece. A very cool added feature, one of the benefits of the carnage of the Headmaster series. Apparently Twincast’s rivalry with Soundwave carried over and possibly even intensified with his new incarnation.
This version of Twincast comes with a different cassette, an entirely new character using the Eject/Rewind mold, a pink and magenta female Autobot called Flip Sides. She is in fact a Decepticon sleeper agent unaware of her true allegiance.
