G1 Ultra Magnus features a mechanized-looking display base with an Autobot insignia. This marks another contribution from a line already responsible for the extremely impressive interpretations of characters like Soundwave, Rodimus Prime and The Fallen. This version of Ultra Magnus is transformable with the carrier/super robot mode intact. Very cool. This version, armed with a black version of his Laser Gun, appears to incorporate a much higher degree of articulation than the original Gen 1 version.
Function: City Commander. Quote: “Consistency is victory.” Ultra Magnus is described as a consummate soldier, a warrior with unsurpassed courage who is disinclined towards the prospect of leadership. In Transformers: The Movie, Optimus Prime passed the Matrix to Ultra Magnus, the latter of whom accepted it reluctantly. Unfortunately for poor Magnus, his tenure was a brief one: On the Planet of Junk, Magnus made a valiant stand to buy escape time for his comrades and was overwhelmed by the attack fire of the Sweeps. Luckily, however, Magnus died while in the company of the Junkions---enabling the latter to rebuild his body and reactivate him.
