Smokescreen is a repaint of Autobot bounty hunter Crosswise, and would seem much more desirable than other contemporary characters of the same name since this version is actually painted in the Gen 1 Smokescreen color scheme. The Crosswise design affords him a high level of ball socket articulation, complete with helmet and clear visor, jointed shoulder plates, a built-in shield along the left arm, and a spoiler-fringed projectile blaster. His Cyber Key function enables back-mounted missile launchers.
The original Smokescreen was known for clever obfuscating techniques and an overall more oblique attack style. One of his more memorable moments came during the original cartoon when Smokescreen had to utilize his technology to fix alien slot machines in an attempt to buy Optimus Prime and his cohorts out of capture and gladiatorial annihilation. As a Cybertron character, he would presumably be just one more in a growing number of non-cartoon characters the likes of Swindle or Hightail or Megatron T-rex.
