This is a special version of the Main Man Voorhees from a very special installment in the Friday the 13th saga. Originating a few years after Jason Takes Manhattan (the eighth and last of the Paramount movies) this movie emerges as the first real example of a stand-alone contribution to the series, while simultaneously helping to herald the eventual Freddy vs. Jason showdown. J.G.T.H. of course begins with Crystal Lake---and with a voluptuous girl who takes up residence in a dark cabin, where she promptly locates the nearest shower and gets naked in record time. This, of course, activates the Voorhees destruct-o-meter, and Jason appears to squash the fly in his ointment.

But the whole thing is a planned subterfuge; the naked girl clad in the little towel is only bait to lure Voorhees out of his lair. Our hero is erroneously ambushed by the FBI and pummeled by a combination of machine guns and rocket launchers. Jason is scattered into multiple pieces, then gathered up and taken to an FBI autopsy lab. Luckily, Jason’s heart is still alive and well. It pulsates, giving vent to an unknown sticky black substance, and somewhere in the confusion, the jocose autopsy doctor is hypnotized into eating---yes eating---the esteemed Voorhees heart. This, Jason begins to travel from body to body, keeping the dream alive---although doing so with much less panache until he finally regains his true form again near the end of the movie.

This cool 12” Sideshow version of Jason Voorhees depicts the version seen at the beginning and end of the movie. Twisted and tattered, he looked different then the other versions before him, mutated rather than merely undead. His head has a toxic-waste look to it, swelled, dotted with irregular strands of hair, almost melting into the scorched jagged rim of his battered hockey mask. Once again, Sideshow captures the essence of the legend, doing the Main Man the justice that he deserves. Additionally, Jason comes with his own disembodied corruption-spewing heart, his trusty machete, the Voorhees-killing knife summoned against him, and the Evil Dead copy of the Necronomicon that made its odd appearance at the old Voorhees residence.
