The Scarlet Witch uses hex-based power to manipulate probability and visit disasters of varying intensity on her opponents. Scarlet Witch and her twin sibling Quicksilver are initially identified as mutants in a crowded setting and are rescued by Magneto. The siblings reciprocate by half-heartedly joining Magneto’s Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, however the Brotherhood is dissolved after Magneto is captured by the Stranger. Later, the Scarlet Witch is recruited, alongside Quicksilver and Hawkeye, as a member of the second incarnation of the Avengers.
