Initially Captain Marvel poses as a deceased Earth scientist, ascertaining whether or not the Earth poses a threat to the Kree Empire, and gradually develops a sympathy for humanity. By protecting humanity on multiple occasions, Captain Marvel is placed at odds with the Kree Empire, prompting the latter to denounce Captain Marvel as a traitor. Captain Marvel’s Kree physiology provides him with strength and durability superior to an ordinary human, and his Nega-Bands provide him with additional strength, a measure of damage resistance, flight-capability, and the ability to withstand space vacuum.
