Nuclear-spawned, Godzilla originally emerges from the bay to attack Tokyo, and is initially neutralized by the Oxygen Destroyer. Possessing immense strength and resiliency, Godzilla uses his atomic breath to incinerate his adversaries. Created by the ape-faced Simeons, MechaGodzilla is initially outfitted with a fleshy exterior which enables him to impersonate the real Godzilla, although the exterior is later scoured away by Godzilla’s atomic breath and MechaGodzilla’s distinctive silver chassis is revealed. MechaGodzilla possesses an arsenal of abilities including eye beams, finger-and-toe launching missiles, flight capability and force fields. During his first battle with Godzilla he (MechaGodzilla) inflicts enough damage to cause Godzilla’s collapse. Having sustained substantial damage himself, MechaGodzilla withdraws, undergoes repairs, and later battles against King Caesar, a deity-like monster capable of undermining the Simeons’ conquest of Earth.
