GX-36 Ideon is a sprawling set-up complete with the plastic/die-cast central mech, an array of transformation modes, display mounts, and weapon accessories such as the Ideon Sword and the Ideon Gun. Derived from the storyline of Space Runaway Ideon, the Ideon were massive vehicles, discovered by human colonists on the planet Solo, capable of transforming into complex mech-robots. The colonists toiled endlessly to activate the Ideon, failing in the effort until Solo was invaded by the Buff Clan. Cosmo Yuki successfully piloted one of the Ideon, using the mech as a counteroffensive against the Buff Clan. Though initially equipped with a standard array of weaponry, the Ideon gradually amassed a monstrous level of power primarily due to the acquisition of new weapons: The Black Hole Cannon, the Ideon Sword and the Ideon Gun.
