Heralding the images of lavish Japanese cartoons and their awkward domestic translations, Great Mazinger is just a well-rounded super-robot and a highly archetypal character in the Soul of Chogokin line. Forerunner to Great Mazinger, Mazinger Z had essentially the same color scheme and overall look. He had the same radiant yellow eyes and grid-work smile, although Mazinger Z’s head showed a slightly squarer disposition, and the ear-mounted horns protruded outwards. Mazinger Z is made of both plastic and die-cast, highly articulated, and includes action features like his Rocket Punch attack. Aside from a display base a full arsenal of add-on and alternate accessories, he comes with his detachable Jet Scrander component, and alternate versions of the cranium-mounted Hover Pilder.
Like his teammates, Aphrodai A and Boss Borot, Mazinger Z was intended to be a last defense against conquest-hungry tyrants. These villains included the likes of the crazed Dr. Hell and the infinitely horrifying Baron Ashura. Generally, Dr. Hell and his unsavory ilk utilized gigantic robot monsters as their surrogates, unleashing them wholesale on various destruction-primed institutions and settlements. During these instances, Mazinger Z would be called upon to battle and destroy the mechanical monsters in question; much of the time Mazinger Z was insisted in this endeavor by Aphrodai and Boss Borot.
