The Probe Droid Statue should stand 16 ½” tall. The charcoal-hued droid is grimly industrialized and overtly insectoid, hovering by means of repulsorlift technology but still making foundation contact with its dangling appendages. The limbs, spindly, reinforced by minor pistons, are joined with varying claws and pinchers; the droid continually gauges and tests its environment. The broad head, socket-mounted to the central chassis, is crowned by long antennae and studded with nodules and globate spider-black eyes.
The Probe Droids were constructed for deep explorations---the Imperial versions equipped with both assault lasers and self-destruct capabilities. The Imperial Probe Droids were pod-transported en masse to their widely-ranged destinations. Once in place, they would begin their search, attempting to ferret out the presence of Rebel occupation. In the course of this endeavor, the probe droids would openly attack any perceived threat, as with the case of Han Solo on Hoth, and should their mission become compromised, the droids would engage a self-destruct function, this latter measure preventing the Rebels from cannibalizing any information from the droid’s memory banks.
