The triumphant return of the Madballs. These imaginative monstrosities varied anywhere from ragged mummies to garden variety anthropomorphic baseballs. They were porous and sickeningly soft, fully sculpted and pretty lavishly painted, and the idea was that you demoralized the local ballgame or any other comparatively formal event by bringing them into play. Ahead of their time, Madballs were one of those endearing fringe properties like Garbage Pail Kids, and as with venerable Garbage Pail Kids like Ground Chuck, Unsani-Terry, Messy Bessie or even the precocious Snot Rope Hope, the Madballs had their own widely distinctive theme-gruesome roster.
RepVile is the neon blue Madball with the moon rock complexion and the oversized bloodshot eye. He’s spewing bright green mucous and he’s crusted with spikes.
Skullface is one of the undead Madballs, an amiable zombie with vile yellow parchment flesh, a healthy rictus grin and glowering red eyes.
Slobulous, stitched and twisted and asymmetrical, has a bulging periscope-positioned eye and skin the color of the mucous running from RepVile’s nose.
Bash Brain, with a pitted blood-red complexion, has a caved-in skull, casually left open to expose his giant yellow eye and pink-hued brain sack.
Horn Head is the Cyclops of the bunch, purple-skinned, bile-spewing, with a nose ring chain dangling across his green sandpaper tongue.
Screamin Meemie is the baseball gone horribly wrong, split open to give a tongue-long glimpse into a giant mouth crowded with blunt yellow teeth.
