Set in 3 ¾” scale, this version of Chewbacca is the first in a series of evolving McQuarrie designs. This earlier version of the Chewbacca character is equipped with light armor and bandoleers, and is armed with a pistol and rifle. This sparsely-furred Chewbacca is a yellow-eyed critter with ears and nose similar to those of a bat. He does not look even slightly averse to the idea of eating Han Solo---a plot twist that would have been well worth seeing.
Owing a life debt to Han Solo, Chewbacca served as Solo’s co-pilot and deathlessly loyal ally. It took him a bit of time to warm up to the credulous and awkward Luke Skywalker, but he eventually did, and by the time The Empire Strikes Back came around there was comradery-o-plenty. Chewbacca’s terrific physical strength made him an excellent companion to have on hand.
