The Star Wars 30th Anniversary Super Battle Droid comes with new packaging and a Star Wars 30th Anniversary Super Battle Droid coin which can be stored inside the tailor-made 30th Anniversary Star Wars Coin Album. Slightly retooled, this version of the Super Battle Droid is festooned with guttering swaths of orange-black fire. The droid, understandably disconcerted by an unexpected turn of events, squawks angrily with his arms flailing in the air.
Super Battle Droids support onboard weapons, are bulkier and more durable than standard battle droids, and are additionally guided by a slightly higher degree of autonomy. Still, none of these fine qualities fit the bill during the scene aboard Count Dooku’s vessel in which R2-D2 outmaneuvered the Super Battle Droids by discharging an oil spill and using his tread-mounted thrusters to ignite both the oil and the Super Battle Droids.
