This is a standardized Darth Vader figure, complete with life support cybernetics, leather armor, cape and lightsaber. Presumably, judging by the nimbus of coruscating blue lightning surrounding his helmet, this is Vader when he turned on the Emperor to save his offspring and took the backlash of the Emperor’s assault.
It is said that Vader himself lost the lightning ability as well as a built-in defense against it because his limbs were severed and replaced by robotic appendages. Vader watched, in silent turmoil, as the Emperor set about slowly cooking the insufferable Luke Skywalker when Skywalker refused to turn evil and become the Emperor’s new right hand man. Finally Vader was stirred to action, seizing the Emperor and raised him into the air, during which time the lightning reversed and attacked Vader, burning his armor and short-circuiting his life support systems.
