The Mutants of Plun-Darr were responsible for the destruction of Thundera, the homeworld of the Thundercats. Hoping to finish the job, they pursued the fleeing survivors to Third Earth, where they quickly fell under the control of the ancient sorcerer Mumm-Ra. Known mutants include the lizard-man Slithe, their leader; Monkian, the scout; the cowardly Jackalman; and Vultureman, the Mutants' mechanic and the inventor of the robotic Wolfrat.

Each exclusive ThunderCats figure features multiple points of articulation and interchangeable weapons/accessories. NYCC 2012 Exclusive Thundercats Box Set 02 includes the following figures:

Slithe

Monkian

Jackalman

Vultureman

Wolfrat

Slithe: Stocky and powerful, Slithe serves as the leader of the Mutants, maintaining his position by berating and beating his underlings into subservience. Slithe’s favored vehicle is the Nosediver. His role as commander is temporarily usurped upon the arrival of higher-ranking mutant Ratarro. Hailing from the planet Plun-Darr, Slithe and his minions, the Mutants, serve as the chief adversaries of the Thundereans. Following the destruction of Thundera, the Mutants board the Thunderean flagship carrying Jaga and the young Lion-O and unsuccessfully attempt to steal the Eye of Thundera. The Mutants ultimately accompany the Thundereans to Third Earth. Initially the mutants establish their fortress, Castle Plun-Darr, and scavenging the wreckage of their vessel to create attack vehicles.

Monkian: Lanky and treacherous, an ungainly mixture of blunder and treacherousness, Monkian ascend the mutant hierarchy by spying and eavesdropping. Monkian possesses the coolest personal armament: a shield which bears his own likeness and hurls fireballs from the mouth. Hailing from the planet Plun-Darr, Monkian and his fellow Mutants serve as the chief adversaries of the Thundereans. Following the destruction of Thundera, the Mutants board the Thunderean flagship carrying Jaga and the young Lion-O and unsuccessfully attempt to steal the Eye of Thundera. The Mutants ultimately accompany the Thundereans to Third Earth.

Jackalman: Hailing from the planet Plun-Darr, Jackalman and his fellow Mutants serve as the chief adversaries of the Thundereans. Following the destruction of Thundera, the Mutants board the Thunderean flagship carrying Jaga and the young Lion-O and unsuccessfully attempted to steal the Eye of Thundera. The Mutants ultimately accompany the Thundereans to Third Earth. Initially Jackalman, Slithe and Monkian represent the Mutant faction on Third Earth, establishing their fortress, Castle Plun-Darr, and scavenging the wreckage of their vessel to create attack vehicles. The most craven of the Mutants, Jackalman seems to be marginally more intelligent than Slithe and Monkian. In the episode “Jackalman’s Rebellion”, Jackalman briefly defected from the Mutants and recruited the Driller and Molemaster to form his own army.

Vultureman: A caustic malingerer who serves as the inventor and engineer of the Mutants, Vulture is introduced later than the others. As his inventions rarely ever exceed Slithe’s expectations, Vultureman frequently serves as the mutants’ punching bag, however in the episode “The Superpower Potion” Vultureman obtains a potion which drastically heightens his strength, enabling him to bully his fellow mutants, though the effects are unfortunately temporary. Hailing from the planet Plun-Darr, Vultureman and his fellow Mutants serve as the chief adversaries of the Thundereans. Following the destruction of Thundera, the Mutants boarded the Thunderean flagship carrying Jaga and the young Lion-O and unsuccessfully attempted to steal the Eye of Thundera. The Mutants ultimately followed the Thundereans to Third Earth.

Wolfrat: Vultureman creates a mechanical Wolfrat, a monstrous beast with a drill-like snout which enters the Cat’s Lair and weakens the ThunderCats by exposing them to Mumm-Ra’s miniaturization gas.
